UP NEXT:
Buxton are back at home as they face Hereford at The Silverlands on 19th August with a 7:45pm kickoff.
The Bucks
At the weekend Buxton fell to a late 2-1 defeat against Marine away from home. Cian Coleman scored for The Bucks to equalise but a goal in injury time sealed all the points for the home side.
Reflecting on the performance, manager John McGrath said:
“Yeah, a 96th minute breakaway when they were down to ten men, our structure was all over the place. Everyone’s come forward trying to score the goal but we still need to do our jobs even when chasing games. I think if we hold our structure and have people on the edge of the box, we deal with the ball coming up and actually put it back on top of them.
We didn’t start particularly well in the first half, really, really lethargic, really poor. We made some changes at halftime and I thought the substitutions came on and did really well. We were good for large parts of the second half and when we scored I thought let’s go and win it.
But disappointed to concede the goal in the 96th minute.”
Opposition facts
Hereford play their games at Edgar Street which has a capacity of 5250.
They have former Birmingham City player Paul Caddis in charge and he has been with the club since 2023. In his first season with the club he took them to their highest ever finish.
Nicknamed The Bulls because of the Hereford Cattle breed their home colour is white.
Last season they finished 10th in the National League North narrowly missing out on playoffs by one point.
The furthest they have gone in the FA Cup is the second round which they reached in the 2017-18 season. They have been runners up in both the FA Trophy and the FA Vase.
Former Bucks Theo Richardson and Sam Osborne will be making a return to The Silverlands.
Hereford have lost both of their opening two games of the season 2-0 to Spennymoor and Kings Lynn.
One to Watch: Sam Osborne
Ex Buxton player Sam Osborne has joined The Bulls on a season long loan from Alfreton.
The winger scored 15 goals in 51 appearances for The Bucks between
2022-2024.
Whilst on the books at Notts County he won their young player of the year award in back to back seasons.
He has twice collected the National League North Player of the Month award, first with Leamington in November 2020 and later with AFC Fylde in April 2022.
Last time they faced
Buxton haven’t won this fixture since 2023.
The last meeting at Edgar Street ended in a 2-1 defeat, with Remaye Campbell and Alex Babos on target for the hosts. Cian Coleman briefly halved the deficit for Buxton, but his goal was quickly overshadowed as he was shown a red card moments later.
