PRESEASON PREVIEW BUXTON FACE BURY BACK AT THE SILVERLANDS

UP NEXT:

Buxton are back on home soil as they face Bury FC at The TSS in their latest pre-season match.

The Bucks

The match follows Buxton’s recent game in Ireland, where they played out a 0-0 draw with Ballymun United.

Reflecting on the performance, manager John McGrath said:

“It was all about minutes in the legs. It was a really competitive game, and it served all the purposes I wanted it to, in terms of the lads getting 45+ minutes.”

Opposition

Bury FC were founded in 1885 in Lancashire and play in blue and white. Their home ground is Gigg Lane, which has a capacity of 12,500.

Nicknamed “The Shakers,” Bury had a remarkable 2023/24 season, winning the North West Counties League Premier Division with 109 points, losing just three games all season.

The club last played in the Football League during the 2018/19 season.

They also hold the record for the biggest ever FA Cup final win which was a 6-0 victory over Derby County in 1903. In 1960, they recorded their highest ever attendance of 35,000 in a match against Bolton Wanderers.

One to watch

Former Buck DJ Pedro will be a familiar face for home fans as he started last season with the club.

Pedro initially impressed during a loan spell and signed permanently after just a month. Since then, he has become a fan favourite at Gigg Lane thanks to his consistent goalscoring form.
